The dishwashers

ASKO 60cm built-under dishwasher, black steel (DBI364ID.BS.AU)

Two dishwashers side by side, so one can wash while the other fills and the dirty plates have somewhere to go. The buttons are along the top right of each door. At the end of the night, load them and leave them off: the wash after you go is ours.

  • Clearing the table as you go, so the bench stays free
  • One washing while the other fills
  • Glasses and plates back in about an hour on Quick with Speed

  1. On/Standby. Wakes it up.
  2. PROG. Steps through the programs. Quick is the one for plates from the table.
  3. Program mode. Speed makes the wash shorter.
  4. Display. Shows the program and the time it will take.
  5. Start/Stop. Starts the wash. Hold it for 3 seconds to stop.
  6. Cutlery tray. Cutlery, ladles, whisks and serving cutlery, at the very top.
  7. Top basket. Glasses, cups, bowls and side plates, with a shelf for wine glasses.
  8. Bottom basket. Plates, serving dishes and pots.

How to…

  • Load it so it washes
    1. Step 1: Dirty sides face in and down, and nothing sits inside anything else.
    2. Step 2: Top basket: glasses, cups, bowls and side plates, with wine glasses on the wine glass shelf and knives in the knife stand on the right. Tip cups so the water runs off.
    3. Step 3: Bottom basket: plates, serving dishes and pots.
    4. Step 4: Small things go in the cutlery tray at the very top.
    5. Step 5: Give the spray arms a spin by hand to check nothing blocks them.

    Hand-wash timber, hand-painted or antique glass, and china with decoration you can feel on top of the glaze.

  • Run a quick wash

    For plates and glasses from the table, not baked-on roasting dishes.

    1. Step 1: Add detergent to the main wash compartment and close the lid. If you’ll use Speed, use powder or gel — tablets need a program of 75 minutes or more.
    2. Step 2: Press On/Standby mode.
    3. Step 3: Press Select program until Quick shows. On its own it takes about an hour and a half.
    4. Step 4: For about an hour instead, press Select program mode until Speed lights up.
    5. Step 5: Close the door properly, then press Start/Stop until the display says Program started.

  • Add something once it’s started
    1. Step 1: Open the door. The machine stops by itself.
    2. Step 2: Add the dish and close the door. After a moment it carries on.

    Once the detergent lid has popped open, it’s too late — wait for the next load.

  • Stop or change a wash
    1. Step 1: Press and hold Start/Stop for 3 seconds.
    2. Step 2: If the detergent lid has opened, add more detergent.
    3. Step 3: Choose a program and press Start/Stop.

  • Unload it
    1. Step 1: Wait for Program done and a short beep.
    2. Step 2: If the door opened by itself, give it at least 5 minutes before closing it again.
    3. Step 3: Let everything cool first. Hot china is more fragile.
    4. Step 4: Empty the bottom basket first, so drips from the top don’t land on it.

  • Child lock is on — how to unlock
    1. Step 1: Press and hold Select program mode and Delayed start together for 3 seconds.

  • On/Standby mode

    Wakes it up.

  • PROG

    Select program

    Steps through the programs.

  • Select program mode

    Speed (shorter) or Night (quieter and longer).

  • Delayed start

    Starts the wash 1 to 24 hours later.

  • Auto door open

    Opens the door to dry at the end.

  • Start/Stop

    Starts it. Held for 3 seconds, it stops or changes a wash.

  • Top up rinse aid

    Rinse aid is low. Leave that to us.
