The rangehood
Schweigen 900mm undermount rangehood (GG-901B)
Built into the cupboard over the cooktop, it draws away steam, smoke and cooking smells. The push buttons are underneath: power, three fan speeds and the light. Induction heats fast, so the steam comes fast too. Start the fan a few minutes before you cook.

- Clearing the steam from the pasta pot and the sear
- Taking smoke and cooking smells away
- Light on the cooktop, so you can see what’s in the pan
Where to find itCooking wall · in the cupboard above the cooktop
- Power. Turns the rangehood on and off.
- Fan speeds. More blades, more speed. Low for simmering, medium for everyday cooking, high for frying and searing.
- Light. Lights up the cooktop.
- Grease filters. Catch the grease from the cooking. Cleaning them is ours.

How to…
Turn the fan on
- Step 1: Press the power button (the power symbol) under the hood.
- Step 2: Pick a speed. The fan buttons show more blades for more speed: low for simmering, medium for everyday cooking, high for frying and searing.
Best started 5 to 10 minutes before you cook, on a low to medium cooktop setting to begin with, so the steam doesn’t turn to drips.

Light over the cooktop
- Step 1: Press the light button (the sun symbol). Press it again to turn the light off.

When you’ve finished cooking
- Step 1: Leave the fan running for another 10 to 15 minutes to clear the steam.
- Step 2: Then press the power button to turn it off.

Watch out for

Power
Turns the rangehood on and off.
Low
Simmering.
Medium
Everyday cooking.
High
Frying and heavy cooking.
Light
The light over the cooktop.

Something’s not right
Water drips from the hood.
Condensation, which happens with induction. Start the fan 5 to 10 minutes before you cook, begin on a low to medium setting, and leave the fan on for 10 to 15 minutes after.

The fan keys on the cooktop don’t do anything.
