The screen and sound

A big screen on an arm that swings out to face the table, with a proper sound system for whatever’s playing. Plug in a laptop, send photos from your phone, or open the streaming apps. Swing it out gently, and push it back flat against the wall when you’re done.

Swing-out arm. Draw the screen gently towards you and it swings round.
Screen. Angle it so the whole table can see. Push it back flat when you’re done.

How to…

Put your laptop on the screen
1. Step 1: Connect your laptop to the screen with an HDMI cable.
2. Step 2: Press Input select on the remote until your laptop shows — or press it once, move with the arrows and press the middle button.
An HDMI input with nothing plugged in may not appear in the list, so check the cable is in at both ends.

Show your iPhone or iPad with AirPlay
1. Step 1: Join the same Wi-Fi as the screen.
2. Step 2: For a video, start it playing, tap AirPlay and choose the screen. For photos, tap Share and choose the screen.
3. Step 3: For your whole screen, open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring, and choose the screen.

Cast from an app
1. Step 1: Join the same Wi-Fi as the screen.
2. Step 2: Open an app that can cast — YouTube, a streaming app, your photos — and tap Cast.
3. Step 3: Choose the screen. The Cast icon changes colour once you’re connected.
4. Step 4: To stop, tap Cast again, then Disconnect.

Watch something on the streaming apps
1. Step 1: Press HOME on the remote for the home screen, and choose an app. BACK takes you back a step.
2. Step 2: Signed in to one with your own account? Sign out before you go. In YouTube, open the menu on the left, choose your profile picture, pick your account and choose Sign out.

Volume, and switching off
1. Step 1: Sound plays through the room’s sound system. Keep it where everyone can still talk across the table.
2. Step 2: Press the power button on the remote to switch the screen to standby.

Something’s not right

My laptop doesn’t show up.
Press Input select again until it does, and check the HDMI cable is pushed in at both ends.
